Most of the times many candidates loose the opportunities due to in effective resume. Some simple tips to have a very good resume which can catch the attention of the potential employer
1.Resume Size
A common thing most of the job seekers miss is the size of the resume. Some of the Applicant Tracking Systems accept upto 1 MB size, its ideal to keep the resume size up to 300 KB. A resume of 300 KB can take enough space for a text resume. Further, Graphics and tables etc in the resume are not clearly read by the ATS. Keep it Simple. We see that some freshers have their resumes up to 3 MB. This is clearly a NO NO for a resume size.
2. Coverage
The resume goes through multiple stages before it is actually landing in the hands of the Hiring Manager who is technically strong. First step is that it should be understood by the ATS. If it has the keywords, then it goes through a young recruiter in case you are going through a consulting company. if your resume is able to be understood by this young person, then it goes through the Recruiter of the potential employer. If the recruiter is happy with the resume, finally it lands in the hands of the hiring manager. Your resume shall be meeting the way the first three steps of the process are done. Your resume shall have the key words which are the focus at the first three steps are looked at. Do not expect them to understand the details of projects. for example, If i know Java, it is obvious that I worked on some framework. Mention the framework in the text.
